Exodus 25:6

Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense,” (Exodus 25:6 KJV)

If we run out of oil, the light goes out. We need to keep refilling with His Holy Word, so that we can continue to let His Holy Light shine through us out into the dark for all to see.

God bless,

This post by Martha Shaw speaks to my inner heart, reminding me that God wants to heal us inside and out. But we must be humble enough to let Him. Great post Martha!

When I was a little girl, I liked to play in my backyard and since I had a play house and a sandbox, the neighborhood kids liked to play in my yard also.  It was a nice yard, but small and with a host of small kids running and playing, there were always skinned knees.  I can remember Mom putting a bandage on it and for a time it seemed great.  Afterall, it was ugly and having covered it with a bandage, I didn’t have to look at it.  The bandage also kept me from “making it worse” and so it didn’t hurt so much anymore.  Eventually Mom would, some time later, insist on peeling off the bandage so it could get a breath of air and fully heal.  I didn’t like that.  I preferred to avoid that part.  I didn’t want to deal with it.  Removing the bandage hurt…

Amazing Grace

One of the most famous and powerful hymns, “Amazing Grace”, is the basic foundation of my testimony. I think it’s probably the same for most people if we really think about it.

Amazing Grace, how sweet  the sound, That saved a wretch like me…. I once was lost but now am found, Was  blind, but now, I see.

T’was Grace that taught… my heart to fear. And  Grace, my fears relieved. How precious did that Grace appear… the hour  I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares… we have already  come. T’was Grace that brought us safe thus far… and Grace will lead us  home.

The Lord has promised good to me… His word my hope secures. He  will my shield and portion be… as long as life endures.

When we’ve  been here ten thousand years… bright shining as the sun. We’ve no less  days to sing God’s praise… then when we’ve first begun.

Amazing Grace,  how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me…. I once was lost but  now am found, Was blind, but now, I see.

So beautiful, so true. I am thankful for God’s Amazing Grace. I am thankful for His love for me.

Proverbs 2:6

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6)

So much of my life was spent in learning. And learning is a good thing. But at one point, I began to question what I had been studying and was it of any value to anyone? I realized that there were more hours than I cared to think of, wasted in trivial garbage, stuff that didn’t help anyone. Useless stuff taking up space in my head. Then there were some things that could have been helpful, if I had actually done something with the knowledge.

When I began studying God’s Word, I soon realized that there is a difference between wisdom and knowledge. Anyone can gain knowledge, but the wisdom to know how to use it and what to use it for can only come from God.

In a world where knowledge is growing in giant leaps, I pray that we will seek God’s wisdom in what to use this knowledge for. Amen!

Luke 18:16-17

But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.” (Luke 18:16-17)

None are too little, too young, to be brought to Christ, who knows how to show kindness to those not capable of doing service to him. It is the mind of Christ, that little children should be brought to him. The promise is to us, and to our seed; therefore He will bid them welcome to him with us. And we must receive his kingdom as children, not by purchase, and must call it our Father’s gift. (Matthew Henry Concise Commentary)

Joshua 24:15

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD“. (Joshua 24:15)

Many times throughout our lives we will be given a choice between holding tight to our faith, or compromising. Which will you choose? Who will you follow? Many times people declare they will follow God…until it gets hard. And it will get hard. But in His grace, God gives us strength to perservere. If we choose His armor and go on, each step becomes a victory. Day by day, moment by moment, continue on in His name.

There is no other choice for me…I will follow Jesus all the rest of my days, and He will lead me Home!

Have an awesome day & God bless!

Proverbs 30:5

“ Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.” (Proverbs 30:5)

When we put our trust in God, we can rest assured we are in good hands. But how do we know we can trust Him? Read His Word. Has He not made good on every promise? All throughout the bible, when people put their trust in Him, He helped them. Eventually they learned that by trusting in Him, they did not need to fear what would happen to them. They realized His power in helping them. Even when they had no idea what was going to happen, they trusted Him to take care of it and it became a shield to them. It gave them hope.

Mark 10:27

And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible”. (Mark 10:27 KJV)

This particular verse has become one of my favorites. It not only reminds of God’s awesome power, but helps me to remain humbled by my own limitations. There are so many things I simply cannot do, know, understand, or change. But God can.

There was a song we used to sing when I was a child, “He’s got the whole world in His hands…” I remember posters of giant hands stretching out from the universe, with the earth sitting in them like a tennis ball. I thought “God must be pretty big” back then. Now I know He’s way bigger and more powerful than I can even imagine.

I am so thankful that I can trust God to take care of me, knowing that He can do anything.

God bless!

Psalms 73:26

My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever”. (Psalms 73:26 KJV)

I wish I could say that I have always walked with God, but that would be a lie. I have lived in the world’s way of darkness and sin. We all have. That is our “flesh”, and it is too weak to stand up to temptation.

But God, in His mercy and grace, gives us strength to walk a better path, His path. We can walk in victory against sin, overcoming it, but only if we accept Him and give ourselves completely to Him. Only after realizing and admitting that I am a sinner, could I sincerely ask for forgiveness. I truly wanted to live a better life. When I repented of my sins and was baptized in Jesus’ name, I was forgiven. And when I opened my heart completely, His Holy Spirit filled me and made me a new person, His child. (Acts 2:38)

That was 11 years ago. I still fall into temptations. I still make mistakes. I have not been made perfect, yet. But I have been delivered and set free! I have learned the truth of God’s Word and I have learned to trust in Him. He gives me the courage to face each day, no matter what happens. He gives me the strength to go through whatever trials come. And they do come! But as long as my heart is focused on the Lord, I have strength. It is when my attention strays away from Him that I fall down. It is through ignorance and deceit of the enemy that I fail. And those are the times that I learn the hardest lessons.

God is my strength! Because of Him, I have already overcome many obstacles and passed through many trials. And because of Him, I will have victory over more. Ultimately, I will be blessed with the greatest treasure imaginable…eternal life in His Holy presence! I admit that there are some things I like about this world. My family and friends, mountains, flowers, oceans and rivers, animals, chocolate, all these things I am very fond of. But in my heart, there is now a love that has grown so strong, a love for Jesus and to be with Him in heaven. That love surpasses any love I have here on earth. And that love is where my strength comes from, because He is love.
